DRUIDS IN IRELAND by HOOD Founder: Mel Lloyd
INTRODUCTION

This article is purposely titled Druids in Ireland and in particular the practices of the Hibernian Order Of Druids.

Collectively, The Druids scattered as they were [and are] throughout Europe, have never had a single doctrine of practice, unlike the unity, that is created by the Nicene Creed within the Christian Church.
 

We do know that Early Druids gave much importance to the Sun in the first instance, and secondly to the cycles of the Moon.
Research shows that regardless of having no set doctrine, there was and is a common purpose, a shared natural philosophy between all Druids, the differences between them being moderate to subtle.
The difficulty of attempting to describe Irish Druid practices is the 5,000+ years time span of their possible existence on the island of Ireland.

In the writing of this article I  totally discount the articles of the Roman chroniclers e.g. Pliny, as having any bearing or truth on the practices of the Irish Druids, for the Romans were never here other than as a small trading community.
